Ceramic inlays or onlays are also called partial crowns. They are used when a tooth is so badly decayed that it cannot be repaired with a regular filling, but at the same time the tooth still has enough healthy tooth substance that it does not need to be ground down for a restoration.<\/p>\n

An inlay or onlay is made in the laboratory from porcelain, based on an impression of the remaining tooth, which is then cemented to the healthy tooth substance by the dentist as the missing piece.<\/p>\n

While a filling can only stay in the tooth for a few years due to wear and tear of the material, the same inlay can last for decades.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>
